Surrounded by chestnut woods and cultivated terraces in the heart of the Garfagnana area of northern Tuscany, Pian di Lago Agriturismo offers peace and tranquillity just a few km from shops and restaurants. Designated as a Natural Park for its exceptional beauty, the area is characterised by meadowland and mixed woodland and it possible to see many plant species typical of the Apuane flora and listen to the woodpeckers and other wild birds. 10 minutes away by car are a number of villages including Sassi/Eglio (700 metres asl) with its historic Duomo, lovely traditional stone built village houses, café, restaurant and a grocery shop. Further down the road is the town of Molazzana (7km) has a range of shops while the thriving market town of Castelnuovo (13km) and Barga (17km) have a wide variety of shops and services and a bustling weekly street market. Lucca is just 47 km down the valley. Pisa airport can be reached in about 1.5 hours. The coast (Forte dei Marmi) and the excellent ski resort of Abetone can be reached in about 1 hr 15 minutes.
